Geo-HEP Systems — Geothermal Solutions for Cooling, Heating, and Thermal Storage
Harnessing thermal energy where it is generated—and delivering it where it is needed.
Geo-HEP Systems combines geothermal energy, thermal buffering, and innovative storage solutions into project-specific system concepts for buildings, industry, and technical applications.
The focus is on two different system approaches: the Geo-HEP high-performance energy pile, designed for continuous heat exchange with the ground and short-term buffering of thermal loads, and the Geo-HEP seasonal storage system, which is being developed for the long-term storage of heat and cold.
Two systems for different thermal applications
Whether for passive cooling, as a heat source for heat pumps, or for seasonal storage of heat and cold: Our systems can be flexibly combined and adapted to your project requirements.
Geo-HEP High-Performance Energy Pile

The high-performance energy pile is the central functional element of the Geo-HEP system for cooling and heating.
It combines a large heat exchange surface with the surrounding subsoil and an integrated thermal storage mass. This allows short-term load peaks to be buffered and heat to be efficiently exchanged with the subsoil.
Under suitable site and operating conditions, the system enables particularly energy-efficient passive cooling. In heating mode, the high-performance energy pile can serve as a geothermal heat source for a heat pump.
Geo-HEP Seasonal Storage

Heat and cold are often not available when they are needed.
The Geo-HEP seasonal storage system is therefore being developed as a standalone solution to store thermal energy over extended periods and make it available for use at a later time. For example, excess heat from building cooling, industrial processes, or solar thermal systems can be stored for later use.
The concept is modular in design and is intended to be used for both heat and cold storage.
Project-Specific Rather Than Based on a Standard Template
The solution best suited for a project depends not only on energy requirements. Key factors include load profiles, required temperature levels, operating hours, existing plant equipment, and the geological and hydrogeological conditions at the site.
For this reason, every Geo-HEP solution is evaluated on a case-by-case basis and tailored to the specific application.
From Cooling to Thermal Storage
Geo-HEP systems can be particularly useful in locations where large or continuous heating and cooling loads occur—such as production facilities, commercial and administrative buildings, data centers, or large residential complexes.
Which Geo-HEP solution is right for your project?
Whether a high-performance energy pile, a thermal storage solution, or a customized system design is the right choice can be initially assessed based on a few key project and site data points.
